Since the October 7 atrocities, Jewish, Israeli, and Zionist Members of Peloton’s fitness community have raised serious concerns about the social media conduct of the company’s official instructors. Fill out the form on this page to urge Peloton to enforce its own community guidelines.
Most recently, Peloton instructor Adrian Williams made a social media video promoting the Palestinian restaurant Ayat in New York City. The concern with Williams’ post is not that it featured a Palestinian restaurant. Rather, the video he shared prominently displayed a map that erased Israel and labeled it “Palestine.” Fellow Peloton instructors Ally Love, Becs Gentry, and Kirra Michel reportedly liked the post. Additionally, this restaurant previously came under criticism for featuring the slogan “From the River to the Sea” in its menu, an antisemitic dog whistle calling for the elimination of Israel as a Jewish state.
Adrian Williams has since deleted the harmful post, taken responsibility, and posted a public acknowledgement and apology, which is an important meaningful step. However, other instructors and Peloton have yet to do the same.
This follows other social media activity in the aftermath of October 7 that Members identified as antisemitic and deeply troubling.
Many Jews and Israelis understand imagery depicting Israel as nonexistent and replaced entirely by a Palestinian state as advocating for the elimination of Israel, a country home to over 10 million people. Many people reasonably understand this message as an implicit endorsement of mass displacement and violence.
Peloton’s Community Guidelines prohibit hate and discrimination and apply to Peloton team members and content partners, including conduct on or off the Peloton Service.
However, when members reported these concerns to Peloton, they say they received generic responses instead of meaningful accountability or an explanation of how Peloton was enforcing its own guidelines.
Peloton instructors are highly visible representatives of the brand. What they post, share, like, and amplify matters.
Peloton has also begun communicating with our community, which we hope will lead to progress. However, Jewish and Israeli Peloton members are still waiting to see real policy enforcement and positive change.
Jewish, Israeli, and Zionist Members deserve to know they are equally welcome and protected at Peloton. Thank you to Adrian Williams for acknowledging this. Now it is Peloton’s turn.
Join the campaign and urge Peloton to:
- Issue a public apology addressing these concerns, clarify social-media expectations for Peloton instructors, and explain how complaints involving instructors are reviewed and addressed
- Review instructors’ social-media conduct under Peloton’s own guidelines, enforce its guidelines, and take appropriate action where violations are found
- Commit to concrete steps to identify and combat antisemitism
