StandWithUs Condemns Spending That Elevated Hate in Texas Congressional Race

(June 24, 2026 — San Antonio, TX) — StandWithUs strongly condemns the American Prosperity Alliance and all other individuals and entities involved in spending over $1 million to boost the viciously antisemitic campaign of former Congressional candidate Maureen Galindo. Voters in Texas’ 35th Congressional District (TX-35) were targeted with ads for Galindo and against her opponent, from a group calling itself Lead Left PAC. Nearly all of Lead Left PAC’s funding came from Conservative Americans PAC – a group which itself was funded entirely by the American Prosperity Alliance (APA).

“Politics can be a dirty business, but a line must be drawn somewhere,” said Roz Rothstein, CEO of StandWithUs. “It is shocking that no one involved in this shameful operation put a stop to it once Galindo’s dangerous and hateful statements about Jews came to light. In fact, they spent even more after she promised to imprison and castrate Zionists.”

During her primary campaign, Galindo repeated the antisemitic conspiracy theory that Jews “own Hollywood,” falsely claimed that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security is “based out of tel aviv,” and promised to imprison “American Zionists” in a “castration processing center.” Disturbingly, Galindo won the first round of the primary, which took place after she had already made some of her hateful statements. She lost in a runoff, but still received 41% of the vote even after her bigotry was widely covered by media and condemned by leaders across the political spectrum.

“All of this hate was deeply harmful to the Jewish community in Texas,” said Joshua Arbital, Central Regional Director at StandWithUs. “Antisemitic rhetoric is not harmless — it can fuel real and deadly attacks like the murders in Washington, DC and the firebombing in Boulder. No matter where you stand politically, there should be no place for such bigotry or calls for violence in our democratic process.”

Lead Left PAC’s spending took place during the runoff. Conservative Americans PAC spokesperson Samantha Bullock called it an effort by Republicans to, “level the playing field” by helping a more extreme candidate win the Democratic primary TX-35. In recent years, both Republicans and Democrats have used this deceptive tactic to influence the other side’s primaries, hoping to give their own candidates a better chance in the general election.

While it is still unclear who exactly decided to spend so much to elevate Galindo, some details have emerged. Based on a report filed with the state of Virginia in 2026, the directors of the APA are Steven Stallmer, Brian Thomas, and Brian Berry. The treasurers of the Conservative Americans PAC and Lead Left PAC are Charles Gantt and Tammie Cannon, respectively. There were likely others involved in designing and placing ads to support Galindo and attack her opponent. It is deeply disturbing that none of these individuals drew a line in the sand by refusing to work on such a hateful campaign.

“This is a threat to our democracy. No short-term political gains are worth amplifying and normalizing bigotry against Jews or any other group. Moreover, it is clear that American leaders and institutions across the political spectrum must do far more to educate and encourage voters to reject extremism,” concluded Rothstein.

StandWithUs calls on the APA and all others involved in boosting Galindo to publicly apologize and commit to never adopting similar tactics again. This must also be a wake-up call for everyone working on both Democratic and Republican campaigns. We hope to see leaders come together against extremism and hate, and act now to prevent irreversible damage to American democracy.
